Richard - size is not an issue with the Savage - I am 6'4" and wiegh 325 - longest solo ride this summer was 800+ kms (480miles) in 12 hours.
Me and the ole lady doubled at STurgis this year without the slightest hiccup - running the canyons at speed limits and out on the interstate at up to 125kmph.
You picked the correct machine in my opinion - see my later comments about the mods and changes over the years
